Our Mission

Farmers growing fuel is an organization of American origin, dedicated to a few distinct principles.

WE BELIEVE

1. We believe the United States should immediately begin to extricate itself from its oil-based energy ideology, particularly as it relates to transportation fuel, and take immediate action to begin to produce its own transportation fuel within its own borders, from renewable and sustainable sources.
2. We believe the method of achieving our renewable fuels goals in the United States is to begin a grassroots movement that encourages every American farmer to participate in the creation and continuation of our nationwide renewable fuels programs: and that every farmer and/or producer in the renewable fuels chain, regardless of the size of their operation, be given equal opportunity to receive awards, grants, and incentives to contribute to the renewable fuels chain. Equal opportunity means the smallest producer should receive no less advantage and no less reward than the largest.
3. We believe in the concept of “Think globally--act locally”, whereby local communities assess their renewable energy and renewable fuels needs, and interact and coordinate with local farmers and producers to permit and assign the task of fulfilling their renewable energy and renewable fuels needs and/or requirements. This means that local development, production, distribution and utilization be the first and foremost consideration in a community’s renewable energy programs and goals.

OUR GOALS

1. Encourage discontinuation of the use of transportation fuel derived from foreign oil.
2. Encourage every American farmer and producer to participate in fulfilling our renewable energy and, specifically, our renewable fuels needs—thus, Farmers Growing Fuel.
3. Encourage development of nationwide renewable fuels programs, whereby local communities assess their renewable energy and renewable fuels needs and devote their primary effort to local fulfillment of their renewable energy needs—think globally, act locally.
4. That Farmers Growing Fuel be the foremost, positive force in aiding these efforts and achieving these goals through:
   1. Information initiative.
   2. Crop and variety trials of promising feedstock crops for renewable fuels.
   3. Research.
   4. Equipment development and trial.
   5. Process development and trial.
   6. Coordination with, and links to, other like-minded entities.
   7. Dissemination of all information pertinent to renewable fuels.
